Successful application to the European Court of Human Rights: from theory to practice

This programme is one of the most requested and popular training programmes offered by the European Centre for Legal Cooperation.

This training was created in cooperation with acknowledged human rights experts, and we are very proud of it. The following short video will give you an idea of the practical value of the training, although the video arguably does not do it justice.

More than 2,000 lawyers and judges from more than two dozen cities in Russia, Ukraine and Italy have attended this professional training. This video shows the training of October 2014, when all the classes were held in the main building of the Council of Europe (Palais de l’Europe), with a public hearing at the European Court of Human Rights. Our attendees were addressed not only by judges, lawyers and experts in the field, but also by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjørn Jagland.

At the end of the programme, participants received official certificates of the CECJ.

As a result, lawyers and judges from the above three countries not only gained knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspect of the ECHR and functioning of the European system of human rights protection, but also gained wonderful memories of the world’s capital of human rights, Strasbourg.
