Implementation of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms on the national level: the experience of Italy and Russia in Russian and Italian

GENERAL INFORMATION

This book marks the year of celebrations of bilateral relations between the Italian Republic and the Russian Federation. Thanks to the collaboration and support of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation and personal participation of the representatives of the higher courts of Russia and Italy, the CECJ organized an international conference in St. Petersburg on May 28, 2012. The conference, “Implementation of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms on the national level: experience of Italy and Russia”, took place at the prestigious headquarters of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and was devoted to common problems and successes of the two nations in the field of protection of Human Rights. The judiciary and legal community of Russia and Italy together with lawyers and judges of the European Court of Human Rights attended the conference. In the third millennium, human rights have acquired even greater importance, and so it is with great pleasure that we are able to bring people together to discuss past experiences in order to search for better ways to solve future problems. The participation of the higher courts of Russia and Italy, but also of the representatives of the European Court of Human Rights, reaffirmed the need to carry out similar events on a regular basis, involving representatives of different countries that have signed the European Convention. It is hoped that an exchange of opinions and experiences will foster our common goals. We are pleased to share this collection with our readers. Read more (pdf)
